Finish painting all your color sections – I did about two coats for each color. For the curtain rod we covered it in plastic and my husband stuck paper plates on the part that is connected to the wall so that we wouldn’t get paint on it, but not have to take it down.I used a roller to fill in the larger areas. I taped the edges of the painted areas, and then used my trick to get the crispiest lines: Tapes your edge then add a thick coat of the original wall paint (mine is white) so, that if that paint leaks under the tape it doesn’t matter, wait for it to dry then add your new color.Paint your second color – my second color is connected to my first so be careful while painting the edge of the connecting colors.I used a large brush to paint the edges of the shapes, since this mural has an organic and imperfect style, I didn’t worry too much about making my painted lines perfect.I would try to match the photo – then stand back and look at it, then make some adjustments and repeat until you’re happy with how the pencil outline looks! I referenced this photo for how I penciled my design on the wall. Use a pencil to draw out your design onto the wall.I used Behr Ash Blonde (top) Porcelain Peach (middle) and Honey Nougat (bottom) Okay, well I’ve talked way too much about this already, so let’s get to painting your mural! SUPPLIES So, if you also have a giant wall or a room you want to add some interest to, this may be the DIY for you! And, did I mention that it’s a super cheap option too?! Win – win! I tried hanging some stuff on the wall but the wall was just too big. I originally wanted to paint it in our living room, but that probably would have been a little crazy for a living room, so I’m glad that I ended up painting it in our extra room that we use A LOT since it’s a play room, office, theatre room, guest room and craft room – haha! Since there’s A LOT going on in there and since it’s a really big room, it just always looked so disjointed, and kind of boring, I needed something to tie it all together and something to fill that giant wall. I also painted this simple floral mural that you can see here, and this painted wall arch here, and this painted headboard here, and this board and batten wall here!! When we were moving into our house I showed it to my husband and he LOVED it which was shocking since we tend to not have the same taste (at all – ha!). I don’t know why I was so obsessed with it (and still am) but I just loved it so much and never forgot about it.
